Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Lessor provides insurance for vessel. However, insurance does not cover loss or damage of items belonging to Charterer and guests, tort liability towards third party property, or towards Charterer's relatives on board.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~75 HP engine burn roughly 6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 126 L ≈ €246 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring pets on board?
No, animals of any kind are not allowed on board.
What can the yacht be used for?
The yacht is strictly for pleasure cruising between safe ports and anchorages. You may not transport goods or passengers commercially, give sailing lessons, or keep firearms or drugs on board, even for personal use.
Are there limits on where I can sail?
Yes. You must stay within the agreed cruising area and may not leave Italian territorial waters without our written consent. Taking part in races or regattas also needs our written authorisation.
What should I do in bad weather?
Please follow the authorities' instructions and don't leave port, or head for the nearest safe harbour if already sailing, whenever wind or sea are at or above Force 5 Beaufort or conditions threaten the safety of the boat and those aboard.
Am I expected to look after the yacht during the charter?
Yes. You're asked to treat the yacht and its equipment with care, keep it clean, and handle normal upkeep such as checking the engine oil, batteries and winches during your time aboard.
