Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: Every vessel has hull (casco) insurance and mandatory passenger insurance, on the insurer's terms. Damage covered by the policy but not reported to the insurer immediately will not be recognised, and the guest is personally liable for it.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. Estimated from engine power: at a typical planing cruise this boat's 150 HP engine burns roughly 23 L/h — about €43 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are not allowed on board unless you have agreed it with us in advance. Please ask before booking so we can confirm whether an exception is possible.
Where am I allowed to sail, and can I sail at night?
You can sail only within Croatian territorial waters and within the area approved for the vessel in its register. Night sailing is allowed only in safe weather.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for your own private use. You cannot sublet it, lend it to someone else, use it commercially or fish professionally. You also cannot operate it under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
What happens if my skipper or crew lack experience?
If we conclude that the person in charge doesn't have the necessary knowledge and skill, we can add a skipper-trainer or assign a skipper for the whole charter at your extra cost. If you'd rather not skipper yourself, you can name another skipper before the charter, who then shares responsibility with you.
What happens if I return late or bad weather delays me?
A delay of up to 3 hours costs one day's charter rate, and a longer delay costs triple the daily rate plus our resulting costs. If weather delays you, you cover the resulting costs, so plan a safe route and call the base manager for instructions.
