Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Advised to take personal travel insurance
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~55 HP engine burn roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €172 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Will my sailing experience be checked before I take the boat?
Yes. By signing the agreement you confirm you are competent to handle the boat with sufficient practical knowledge of seamanship. We reserve the right to refuse handover to anyone we consider unfit to take charge, in which case we can provide a competent skipper at your expense.
Are there any restrictions on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for pleasure use only. It may not carry merchandise, and you should avoid areas designated as hazardous and refrain from night sailing. You also can't sub-charter or assign the booking without our written consent.
Can I bring extra people on board?
Only the passengers listed on the crew list may be carried. Anyone not on that list must not be brought aboard.
What happens if something breaks down at sea?
Notify our base manager immediately and don't arrange repairs elsewhere without our approval. For essential equipment failures within a 30-mile radius of our base, we aim to complete repairs within 24 hours; if we can't, you'll receive a pro-rata refund of lost charter time or a sailing credit.
What condition should the boat be returned in?
Please return the boat to its home base clean and tidy with full fuel and water tanks. Returning late incurs a charge of double the daily rate plus any related losses, and remember to allow margin for bad weather when planning your return.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
