Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Each vessel has compulsory third party insurance, voluntary third party liability insurance, motor own damage insurance (kasko), and accident insurance for Lessee and passengers. Kasko covers damages exceeding deposit except from intentional actions or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~50 HP engine burn roughly 4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 84 L ≈ €157 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can we sail at night?
No. We ask that you avoid sailing at night and aim to navigate only in safe weather and good visibility, planning your route so you reach a safe harbour or anchorage before dark.
What happens in bad weather?
You should keep yourself informed of the forecast and not leave port or anchorage if the wind is 20 knots or more, or is expected to reach that strength, or if conditions are otherwise unstable. Adverse weather is not a reason for returning the boat late.
Are there limits on where we can sail?
You may sail within the internal waters and territorial sea of Croatia, and you must stay clear of zones where navigation is prohibited, such as military areas. Please plan and follow your route using up-to-date charts and avoid poorly surveyed areas.
Might we be asked to demonstrate our sailing skills?
Yes. We may ask you to show your nautical knowledge and skills in front of our representative before departure. If you cannot demonstrate sufficient competence to handle the boat, we may prevent departure.
Can we bring a pet on board?
Pets are only allowed with our prior permission, so please ask us before you book if you would like to bring one.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
