Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: Cancellation insurance is recommended. Damage from racing without consent is not covered by the boat's insurance.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I use the boat for racing?
No. The boats may not be used for races unless we give written permission. Without our consent there is no insurance cover, and the skipper alone is liable for any resulting damage.
Are there areas I'm not allowed to sail?
Yes. You may not pass the Zdrelac bridge between Ugljan and Pasman unless we have approved it in writing beforehand. You must also respect the rules of the host countries and their harbour authorities.
What sailing experience do I need?
The person chartering the yacht must be able to take charge of it on their own and sail it with good seamanship. You should also keep a private logbook throughout the trip.
What should I do if something breaks or is damaged during my charter?
Inform us straight away and try to limit the damage. You can repair minor wear-and-tear defects up to EUR 200 and be reimbursed on presentation of the invoice, but keep any replaced parts. Anything above EUR 200 needs our consent first.
What happens if I return the boat late?
You can't extend the charter without our consent. If you return late, the contract terms keep applying during the delay, and you may be held liable for consequential damage if the delay is your fault.
