Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Damages must be reported within 12 hours to port authorities and charter base
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €282 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Will my ability to handle the boat be checked?
Yes. If the base manager finds that you lack the necessary knowledge or ability to operate the boat, they may assign a professional skipper for the safety of the crew and vessel.
Do I need to send a crew list in advance?
Yes. Please email the crew list one week ahead with each person's name, date of birth, address, nationality and ID number, along with the skipper's licence. Any later change must be reported to us or to the harbour master's office.
Can I sail outside Croatian waters?
No. You must stay within Croatian territorial waters, and any exception needs our special written permission. You also cannot sublet or lend the boat, take part in regattas, or use it for commercial purposes or professional fishing.
What condition should the boat be returned in?
Return the boat in the same seaworthy, clean and fully equipped condition as you received it, with a full fuel tank and empty waste tank. You must report any damage you cause yourself; failing to report damage adds a 300 euro charge.
What if I return the boat late?
Late return without our prior agreement is charged from the deposit: up to three hours late costs half a night's price, three to five hours late costs a full day, and more than five hours late is handled with the police and depends on the resulting losses.
