Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Travel and personal insurance recommended
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~100 HP engines burn roughly 8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 168 L ≈ €252 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Do you check sailing experience before handover?
Yes. We rely on the sailing certificate or experience report you provide, and if we find you're not competent to handle the yacht we may end the charter or require you to take on a skipper for an extra charge. You must never sail single-handed and always keep a competent skipper over 18 and a leading crew member aboard.
Are there any restrictions on how I use the boat?
The yacht is for private pleasure only. Racing or regattas (unless pre-booked and approved), towing other craft except in distress, paid transport of people or goods, and subletting are not permitted.
Is night sailing allowed?
No, night sailing is strictly forbidden, from 30 minutes before sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise.
Can I sail in any weather?
For safety, you should not leave port or anchorage when the wind is or is forecast to be over Beaufort force 6, when authorities have banned sailing, or whenever the condition of the boat, crew or weather makes safety doubtful.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You'll stay within Turkish territorial waters, and we ask that you plan your itinerary so you reach your farthest point within the first third of the charter and are within 20 nautical miles of the return base 24 hours before the end.
