Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: The owner insures the yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party damage. The charterer is relieved of liability covered by the policy unless the loss is caused by gross negligence or willful default.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Where am I allowed to sail?
Your charter area is the Turkish coast, and the yacht must stay in Turkish waters. If you want to go beyond that, you need our written agreement first. Please also plan your route so you reach your farthest port within the first third of the charter and finish within 20 NM of the return point 24 hours before the end.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member. If you don't have the open-water experience yourself, you must appoint an experienced skipper who signs the contract with you.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The yacht is for private pleasure only, so no racing without our agreement, no towing other boats except in an emergency, and no subletting. Only people on your crew/passenger manifest may be aboard. Fishing must follow customs laws, and you may not take archaeological objects.
What happens if bad weather hits?
For safety, you shouldn't leave a port or anchorage if the wind is or is forecast to be above Beaufort 6, or if the harbour authorities ban sailing. The same applies if conditions or the state of the yacht make safety doubtful. At night you may sail only with all navigation lights working and a proper watch on deck.
What should I do if something breaks or I have an accident?
Contact us promptly and get our consent before arranging any repair. Keep the receipts, because repairs for normal wear are reimbursed at the end. After an accident or damage, ask the nearest Port Authority for a written record and tell us at the same time.
