Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Yacht covered by comprehensive insurance for property damage to ship and equipment plus ship liability insurance without deductibles on lump-sum basis for personal injury and property damage. Liability coverage minimum €1,000,000 or equivalent currency.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €357 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring pets on board?
No, animals are not permitted on board. Please make other arrangements for your pets before your trip.
Are there limits on where I can sail?
You must stay within the agreed sailing area, and we can only authorise leaving it with our express consent. We may also further restrict the area in uncertain conditions, including imposing a night-sailing ban.
What happens if there's bad weather?
You should not leave a sheltered harbour if the forecast announces sustained winds of 7 Beaufort or more for your next leg. From announced gusts above 25 knots, you must follow the base manager's instructions on whether it's safe to sail.
Can you check our sailing experience before handover?
Yes. We're entitled to verify the skipper's ability to navigate before handing over the yacht and may ask for proof of prior experience. If safe handling looks doubtful, we may arrange a professional skipper or decline to hand over the boat.
Can we take part in races or use the boat commercially?
No. Without our prior written consent you may not enter regattas, use the yacht commercially, tow other vessels except in an emergency, or sublet the boat to anyone else.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
