Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Vessel covered by compulsory third-party liability insurance and comprehensive (Casco) insurance up to registered value. Casco covers damage exceeding deposit except intentional damage or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 285 HP engine burn roughly 43 L/h — about €80 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can we bring a pet on board?
Pets such as dogs, cats or birds are only allowed with our prior permission. If we agree, an extra cleaning cost applies according to our price list, so please ask us before booking.
What if we don't seem ready to handle the boat at check-in?
If we find you don't have the navigation skills to operate the vessel safely, we may require an official skipper to join your crew at the rate in our price list. If you refuse the skipper, we can withhold the boat and the charter cannot go ahead.
Where are we allowed to sail?
You should sail within Croatian territorial waters; leaving them needs our prior written consent. Please sail only in safe weather and good visibility, avoid clearly dangerous areas, and don't sail at night.
Is there anything we're not allowed to do with the boat?
The boat is for private use only, so no commercial use, professional fishing, sailing school, subletting or lending to others. Please don't take more people aboard than the vessel is registered for, enter regattas without our consent, or tow another boat.
What happens if something breaks during our trip?
Tell us right away using the emergency numbers in the vessel documents; we'll aim to fix any normal wear-and-tear defect within 24 hours, and if we do you're not entitled to compensation. If repairs are needed for damage that isn't your fault, you're entitled to a pro-rata refund for the lost time.
