Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Yacht covered with all-risk insurance against third party damages and Force Majeure damages. Sails not covered by insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 300 HP engine burn roughly 45 L/h — about €84 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Will my sailing ability be assessed at handover?
Yes, at takeover you'll take a short test drive with our representative on board. If we consider you not yet ready to handle the yacht, regardless of any licences you hold, we may hire a professional skipper at your cost.
Can we bring pets or diving equipment on board?
Animals and diving equipment are not allowed on board unless you've arranged it with us in advance, so please ask before you travel if you'd like to bring either.
Are there any limits on where and when we can sail?
You're asked to sail within Croatian territorial waters and not to sail at night in unsafe conditions. Sub-chartering the yacht to anyone else is also not permitted.
Is there a limit on how much we can sail each day?
There's a daily limit of three hours of navigation and the weekly total must not exceed 25 hours. If you'd like to sail more on a given day, please contact us in advance for approval.
What should we do if something breaks during our trip?
If any damage or breakdown occurs, contact us or the base manager right away using the numbers in the yacht documents on board, and we'll arrange the repair. Please check the engine oil daily.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
