Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All vessels have Kasko (hull) insurance with a deductible up to the deposit amount in the yearly Price List, plus compulsory passenger insurance and compulsory third-party insurance. Passengers' personal property is not insured.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~57 HP engine burns roughly 4.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 97 L ≈ €181 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Pets are only allowed with our prior written consent, so please ask before you book. Don't bring an animal aboard without that approval.
Can I sail at night or in strong wind?
We ask you to avoid night sailing for safety reasons. You shouldn't leave port if winds above 25 knots are expected or if the port authorities have issued a warning or ban. In gale-force conditions, tell us your exact location so we can help.
Will I have to prove my sailing skills?
We may ask you to show your competence by sailing the yacht with our representative present, and the test time counts as part of your charter. If we decide you're not able to be in charge, we'll assign a skipper at the Price List rate. If you refuse the skipper, you can't leave port and the paid charter rate is kept.
How many people can come aboard, and can I race or charter it on?
Only the people listed on your Crew list may be aboard, and you must tell us about any changes. You can't carry passengers or goods commercially or hand the boat to a third party. Racing or regattas need our prior written consent.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Contact us straight away and follow our instructions. You're expected to cover normal wear-and-tear repairs up to EUR 150, which we reimburse when you return to base with the receipts. If a fault we're responsible for ends your trip early, you get a proportional refund for the lost days.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
