Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The operator insures the yacht at its own cost for the whole charter period (navigation risks, civil liability, passengers, full-comprehensive cover). It also takes out a separate civil liability policy covering all persons on board.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~30 HP engine burns roughly 2.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 50 L ≈ €98 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Not without our approval. No animals may be brought or kept on board unless we expressly consent beforehand, so please ask us before you book.
Are there limits on how I can use the yacht?
Yes. The yacht is for recreational use only, within the navigation area in your contract. Commercial carrying of passengers or goods, regattas, hazardous water sports and sub-chartering are not allowed without our written permission, and illegal drugs and weapons are strictly forbidden.
What happens if bad weather delays my departure?
The charter still counts even if weather or port authority orders keep the yacht in port for days, and we can't offer compensation for that. For your safety, you must not leave the mooring when sailing is prohibited or conditions are unsafe.
Can I choose my own skipper?
Yes, but we need to approve them. We may ask the skipper to show their qualifications, and if their knowledge and licence aren't sufficient for this yacht, we may ask you to replace them.
What happens if I return the yacht late?
Your charter cost goes up by 10% for each day of delay, counting any fraction over four hours as a day, unless the delay is caused by force majeure. If you're more than 24 hours late, you may also be liable for our losses, such as a disrupted next charter.
