Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: Damage or loss to the yacht is deducted from the security deposit, and additional charges may apply if costs exceed it.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~45 HP engine burns roughly 3.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 76 L ≈ €148 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What happens if the weather turns bad during my trip?
Keeping track of the forecast and deciding when it is safe to sail is your responsibility as charterer. If poor seamanship or ignoring severe weather leads to an unnecessary Coastguard call-out, the Coastguard may charge you for it. Please also plan your return carefully so bad weather doesn't make you late.
What if you're not sure about our sailing experience?
We may ask you to take a professional skipper on board if we have doubts about your sailing abilities, either when you embark or later in the charter. Port authorities can also ask for a sailing experience declaration from your skipper and co-skipper.
Can you provide a skipper for us?
Yes, we can provide a skipper on request. The fee is agreed in advance and paid at the start of the charter. The skipper needs their own cabin and must be given meals or a meal allowance.
What happens if I return the yacht late?
You are responsible for bringing the yacht back to the agreed place and time, so build in a weather margin. A late return incurs additional charges as set out in your Charter Party Agreement.
Are there limits on how I can use the yacht?
The yacht must be used lawfully at all times. You are fully responsible for any criminal acts, misconduct or illegal use during the charter, and the operator takes no responsibility for them.
