Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Client responsible for damages, costs may exceed security deposit
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~45 HP engine burn roughly 3.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 76 L ≈ €148 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Could we be asked to take a professional skipper even with a licence?
Yes. If we have any doubts about your sailing abilities, either at embarkation or during the charter, we may require you to take on a professional skipper. This is purely to keep your trip safe and legal in Greek waters.
Who keeps an eye on the weather while we sail?
You are responsible for staying informed about upcoming weather and sailing within your skills. Navigating in harsh conditions is at your own risk, and if a lack of caution leads to an unnecessary Coastguard call-out, the Coastguard may charge you directly.
Can you provide a skipper if we want one?
Yes, we can arrange a professional skipper. The fee is agreed in advance and paid at the start of the charter, and the skipper needs their own cabin plus meals or a meal allowance.
What is included with the yacht?
Your charter includes a dinghy with outboard engine, bed linen, towels and blankets, full galley and electronic equipment, a full water tank, snorkelling gear, and pilot books and charts for the sailing regions. The first and last night at the starting marina are also covered.
What extra costs should we budget for?
Berthing fees in ports and marinas other than the home base, water consumption, transfers, provisioning, and any additional equipment or services are not included. We can arrange transfers and pre-ordered provisioning on request.
