Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Yacht insured against third-party damages and fully insured for damages from force majeure up to registered value. Sails not covered.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Could the operator stop me taking the boat out?
Yes. If our representatives judge that you're not competent to operate the boat safely, we reserve the right not to hand it over, or to arrange instruction at your expense. This is to keep everyone aboard safe.
What condition should the boat be returned in?
We hand over a fully equipped boat in good condition with full fuel tanks, and we ask that you return it the same way. Please inspect the boat and equipment against the inventory list when you take over.
What if bad weather delays my return?
If continuing your cruise isn't possible or your return will be delayed, contact the base manager for instructions. Please note any extra costs arising from a weather-related delay are borne by you, so plan your route carefully.
Is there any daily maintenance I should do?
Yes, please check the engine oil daily, as engine damage caused by running low on oil isn't covered and would be your responsibility. A quick check each morning keeps your trip running smoothly.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
