Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Boat is delivered with RC liability insurance and body/machinery insurance coverage against damage, total/partial loss, and theft. Tenant must be aware of policy terms and not engage in acts that invalidate coverage.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~80 HP engine burn roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €261 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can we bring a pet?
Yes, with our prior authorisation you may bring small animals, up to a maximum of two, provided they are properly identified and vaccinated.
Where are we allowed to sail?
The boat may be used only in the waters of the Adriatic Sea. Please respect all navigation limits, prohibitions and notices to mariners along the way.
Are there things we're not allowed to do with the boat?
The boat is for recreational use only. You may not use it to carry goods or paying passengers, for professional fishing, commercial activity or competitions, and you can't sublet, tow or be towed by other vessels except in a genuine emergency.
Can we hire a captain or crew?
Yes, you may embark a captain at your expense, but you'll need our prior consent. We may check the captain's qualifications, skills and experience and ask for a copy of their licence at least 24 hours before departure, and can decline if we consider them unsuitable.
What happens if we return the boat late?
Please return the boat to the same place by 9:00 a.m. on the last day. A late return carries a penalty of 5,000 euros for each day of delay, so let us know straight away if bad weather prevents you from returning on time and we'll agree a postponement.
