Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. Estimated from engine power: at a typical planing cruise this boat's 60 HP engine burns roughly 9 L/h — about €18 an hour at €1.95/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Germany?
A Sportbootführerschee-See (SBF-See) is required for boats over 15 HP at sea; the ICC is recognised for visitors.
About Marina im Ziegeleipark Mildenberg
One of the most modern marinas on the Havel, this spot sits right in the middle of the otherworldly clay pit landscape of Ziegeleipark Mildenberg — an old brick works turned open-air industrial heritage park. Read more →
When is the best time to sail in Germany?
May–September on the Baltic and North Sea; cool, changeable maritime weather with the most settled sailing in mid-summer.
