Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Vessel covered by third-party liability insurance (compulsory) and comprehensive (Casco) insurance up to registered vessel value. Casco covers damage exceeding deposit amount except intentional damage or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €282 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring pets on board?
No, pets are not allowed on board. If a pet is found aboard you'll pay a 500 EUR penalty plus a 300 EUR final cleaning charge.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You should sail within the territorial waters of Croatia. Leaving Croatian territorial waters is only possible with our prior written consent. Please sail only in safe weather and good visibility, avoid clearly dangerous areas, and don't sail at night.
Will my sailing skills be checked at handover?
Yes. If we find that the person in charge doesn't have the navigation skills needed to operate the vessel, we can require an official skipper to join the crew at the current rate. If you refuse the appointed skipper, we may prohibit the boat from sailing out.
What activities are not allowed with the boat?
The boat is for pleasure use only and may not be used commercially, for sailing schools or skipper training, professional fishing, or transporting goods or people for payment. You also can't take part in regattas or races, tow another boat, or sublet or lend the boat without our consent.
How many people can be on board?
You may not carry more people than the vessel is registered for, and only those named on the crew list may stay aboard. Please send us the crew list at least one week before your charter begins.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
