Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Owner insures yacht against fire, marine, collision risks and third party damage per Greek law. Charterer relieved of liability for covered losses except those caused by gross negligence or willful default.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~104 HP engines burn roughly 8.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 174 L ≈ €339 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Might we be asked to prove our sailing skills?
Yes. We may ask you or your skipper to demonstrate competence by handling the yacht at sea with our representative aboard. If we're not satisfied, we can place a skipper on board at your expense for as long as we feel is needed for safety. Any time spent on this is part of your charter period.
Who needs to be in our crew?
Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member, and stay within the maximum number of people listed for the yacht. Only the people named on the crew/passenger manifest may be aboard.
Where are we allowed to sail?
You must keep the yacht within Greek seas and may not take her outside that area without our written consent. Motor yachts are limited to the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs and the Ionian Sea.
Are there any prohibited uses of the yacht?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only. You may not use her for racing (unless agreed in advance with racing insurance paid), tow other craft except in an emergency, sublet her, break fishing or diving laws, or recover objects of archaeological value.
How should we plan our itinerary?
Plan so you reach your farthest port of call within the first third of the charter, and so that two days before the end you are no more than 40 nautical miles from the return point. Keep the ship's log up to date and report your position and the yacht's condition to us at reasonable intervals.
