Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Comprehensive travel insurance required for all party members covering full holiday period and cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. Insurance for yacht charter cancellation costs recommended.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~114 HP engines burn roughly 9.1 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 191 L ≈ €372 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Will my sailing experience be checked before we set off?
You may be asked to demonstrate your competence to our base manager. If the second skipper isn't formally licensed, they may need to sign a declaration confirming they're competent to help take responsibility for the yacht, otherwise you can hire a skipper or co-skipper for your trip.
When do you need our crew details?
We ask for your crew list along with passport and sailing licence copies for the two skippers 60 days before embarkation, so please have these ready in good time.
What condition should the yacht be in when we return it?
We ask that you bring the yacht back in the same condition you received it, with the fuel and water tanks topped up. At check-out we go through everything together to confirm all is in order.
What happens if our booked yacht isn't available?
We reserve the right to provide an alternative yacht of equivalent quality and capacity should the need arise, so you can still enjoy your holiday.
On a skippered charter, are the skipper's costs included?
As is customary on skippered yachts, you're asked to cover the skipper's and co-skipper's expenses, including their meals on board and ashore.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
