Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Owner insures yacht against fire, marine, collision risks, third party damage; charterer relieved of liability for covered losses unless caused by gross negligence or wilful default
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~4 HP engines burn roughly 0.5 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 11 L ≈ €21 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Do you check our sailing experience before we set off?
Yes. We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your competence by handling the yacht at sea with us aboard. If we are not satisfied, we can place an experienced seaman on board at your expense for as long as we judge necessary for safety.
Are there limits on where we can sail?
Yes. The yacht must stay within Greek waters, and we ask that you do not leave port or anchorage when the wind is or is forecast to be over Beaufort 6, when the authorities have banned sailing, or when any vital equipment is not in good order. Night sailing requires all navigation lights working and a sufficient watch on deck.
Can we use the yacht for racing or towing?
No. The yacht is for your private pleasure only, so racing and towing other vessels are not allowed except in a genuine emergency.
Can we hire a paid skipper to join us?
No. No professional crew member who has been paid for their services may be on board, and none may be added during the charter without our prior written agreement. Your party must include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member.
Is there an itinerary requirement?
Yes. Please plan your cruise so you reach your furthest port within the first third of the charter, and so that in the final two days you are no more than 40 nautical miles from the return point.
