Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Yacht insured by Owner against fire, marine, collision risks, and third-party damage in excess of 0 euro; Charterer relieved of liability for covered losses unless caused by gross negligence or willful default
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~54 HP engines burn roughly 4.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 90 L ≈ €176 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Do you check our sailing experience before we set off?
Yes. We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your competence by handling the yacht at sea with our representative aboard. Your party should include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced crew member.
Where are we allowed to sail?
You are free to cruise within the Greek seas, but the yacht may not be taken outside that area without our written consent. Please also plan your route so that two days before the charter ends you are within 40 nautical miles of the return port.
Are there any restrictions on how we use the yacht?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only. You may not use her for racing or for towing other craft except in an emergency, and you may not sublet her or carry anyone not listed on the crew manifest.
What happens in bad weather?
For everyone's safety, please do not leave port or anchorage when the wind is, or is forecast to be, over Force 6 on the Beaufort scale, or when the harbour authorities have prohibited sailing.
What if something breaks down while we are at sea?
Routine running repairs are arranged with our prior consent, and repairs caused by normal wear are refunded to you against receipts at the end of the charter. Please report the yacht's position and condition to us roughly every three days, and contact the nearest port authority to record any accident or damage.
