About this boat
The Lagoon 46 'My Star' is a luxury catamaran of the elegant line, available for crewed charters in the Greek islands. It is equipped with many extras, unmatched by any other catamaran in its category, like a tenderlift with a large dingy of 40HP. All the water games like kneeboard, wakeboard, tubes, banana, SUPs, plus water skiing and sea scooters. Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner insures the yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks, third-party damage, and loss or damage in excess of a stated amount (amount left blank).
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €294 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for private pleasure use by you and your party only. Racing, towing other craft (except in an emergency) and subletting without the operator's written consent are not allowed, nor is breaking customs, fishing or underwater-fishing laws or taking archaeological objects.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within the Greek seas. You are also expected to plan your route so you reach your farthest port within the first third of the charter. Two days before the end, you should be within 40 nautical miles of the return point.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
You must not leave a port or anchorage if the wind is or is forecast to exceed Beaufort 6, or if the harbour authorities have banned sailing. The same goes whenever conditions or the state of the boat or crew make safety doubtful. Reduce sail promptly when needed.
Will you check our sailing experience?
Yes, we may ask you and your crew to show you can handle the boat safely at sea with us aboard. If you don't pass, we may end the agreement and keep the fees, or put a mutually acceptable seaman aboard at your expense for as long as we consider necessary. The time for this test counts as part of your charter.
What should I do if something breaks or is damaged?
Contact us before arranging repairs, because we need to agree the repair first. Repairs of normal wear are reimbursed against receipts at the end of the charter. If there is an accident or damage, ask the nearest Port Authority to record it in writing and let us know at the same time.
