Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Owner insures yacht and equipment against fire, marine and collision risks and third-party damage for amounts up to 550,000. Charterer relieved of liability for covered losses except those caused by gross negligence or willful default.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~600 HP engines burn roughly 48 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 1008 L ≈ €1966 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What does the skipper take care of?
Your skipper handles navigation, mooring, anchoring, manoeuvring and port formalities, and keeps the deck and cockpit clean and in good order. They will also brief you on safety when you come aboard and manage refuelling and water, all at your expense.
How many hours a day will we be sailing?
Unless agreed otherwise, the skipper will navigate for up to about six hours per day, making the most of the sails where wind allows, and entering and leaving ports under engine for safety.
Does the crew cook and clean for us?
If a hostess or steward is aboard, they do the daily shopping, prepare and serve breakfast and a light lunch or dinner to your preferences, and clean the communal areas daily. A third crew member acting as cook can provide three meals a day. All food and drinks, including for the crew, are at your expense.
Who decides the sailing route?
The skipper plans the itinerary together with you and will always try to meet your wishes, but the safety and comfort of everyone aboard come first. They will explain their decisions and agree an alternative plan with you if conditions require a change.
Will the crew look after our children?
Children must be supervised by an adult or nanny from your own party at all times, as neither the skipper nor the hostess or steward provides childcare or nanny services.
