Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Recommended cancellation insurance
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 300 HP engine burn roughly 45 L/h — about €88 an hour at €1.95/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Will my sailing experience be assessed?
We may ask you to submit a sailing resume so we can judge whether you can sail safely. We reserve the right to decline the charter or to require you to hire a professional skipper if your skills aren't deemed sufficient.
Does my whole crew need sailing credentials?
Under Greek law at least two crew members need sailing credentials. The skipper must carry their original certificate, while the second crew member can give the local coast guard a signed declaration confirming their sailing experience.
Is there any paperwork done with the authorities before we sail?
Yes. Your charter runs on a Charter Party Contract, the standard charter contract in Greece, which is approved by the coast guard before you set off.
How long do I have to raise an issue after my charter?
Please raise any claim within 5 working days of the charter's end day, supported by our charter documents. The signed delivery and redelivery statements are the only official record of the boat's condition.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
