Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Yacht is insured by owner against fire, marine, collision risks, third party damage, and hull/machinery/equipment damage. Charterer relieved of liability for covered losses unless caused by gross negligence or wilful default.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 350 HP engine burn roughly 53 L/h — about €103 an hour at €1.95/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Who needs to be in our crew?
Your party should include at least one qualified skipper and one experienced sailor, and the number on board must not exceed the maximum stated in the yacht's documents. Everyone aboard must appear on the crew/passenger manifest.
Will our sailing competence be checked?
We may ask you and your crew to demonstrate your competence by handling the yacht at sea with our representative aboard. If we are not satisfied, we may place a skipper on board at your expense for as long as we consider necessary for safety; this time counts as part of your charter.
Where are we allowed to sail?
The yacht is to stay within Greek territorial waters unless we agree otherwise in writing. Please plan your itinerary so that two days before the end of the charter you are no more than 40 nautical miles from the return port.
Are there restrictions on how we use the yacht?
The yacht is for your private pleasure only. Please do not use it for racing or for towing other craft except in an emergency, and do not sub-charter it without our written consent.
When should we stay in port for weather?
Please do not leave a port or anchorage if the wind is, or is forecast to be, over Beaufort force 6, if the authorities have prohibited sailing, or if any vital equipment is not in good working order. Sailing at night is not allowed except in an emergency.
