Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Insurance contract provided to skippers. Vessels equipped with connected device for geolocation and monitoring.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~18 HP engine burn roughly 1.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 29 L ≈ €57 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in France?
No formal licence is legally required to skipper a bareboat sailing yacht, though charter companies expect a sailing résumé and usually an ICC or equivalent.
Are pets allowed on board?
No, animals are not permitted on board any of our boats.
Will my sailing experience be checked before departure?
Yes. You confirm that you and your crew are fit to sail, and we may assess your skills in real conditions or ask for evidence of your competence. If we clearly find you are not fit to navigate, we may cancel the outing.
Can I take the boat racing or in a regatta?
Only boats listed in the racing or racing-cruising categories may be used for regattas, and you must tell us in advance. Cover applies only to regattas of no more than 120 nautical miles sailed per day, and the sails are not insured during racing.
How many people can I bring on board?
You may bring a crew under your responsibility, up to the maximum number of passengers set by the boat's manufacturer and provided the boat is suitably equipped.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Please return the boat in the same clean and working condition you received it. We may charge an exceptional cleaning fee if it comes back abnormally dirty, for example with rubbish on board, unwashed dishes, or an unemptied fridge.
