Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Recommended to obtain personal travel, cancellation, and liability insurance
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 340 HP engine burn roughly 51 L/h — about €99 an hour at €1.95/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What is the APA and how does it work?
These yachts are quoted on MYBA 'plus expenses' terms, so the charter fee covers the yacht, crew wages and food, but running costs like provisioning, berthing and fuel are charged at cost.
Who decides the itinerary?
The captain has the final say on the route, evaluating prevailing weather and sea conditions for your safety and comfort. A private charter can change its port of call at any time, and while we'll try to secure your chosen berths, final berth allocation can't be guaranteed.
Are tips for the crew expected?
Gratuities are entirely at your discretion. A tip of around 5 to 15 percent of the charter fee for the whole crew is commonly suggested, but you're under no obligation and the crew will never solicit one.
Can we smoke on board?
Smoking is not permitted inside the vessel.
Can we use jet skis and personal watercraft?
Yes, but only if the operator holds a licence approved by the local Greek port authorities and follows local operating regulations and law.
