Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Recipient responsible for all damage regardless of cause.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 260 HP engine burn roughly 39 L/h — about €73 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Are there things we're not allowed to do with the boat?
You can't rent or lend the boat to anyone else, take part in competitions, use it commercially or for professional fishing. Night sailing is strictly forbidden, as is lifting the engine out of the water and sailing in water shallower than 1.5 metres.
Where are we allowed to sail?
Please stay within Croatian territorial waters. Leaving them requires our written consent obtained before the charter, and only sail in safe weather conditions.
Can we have a skipper, or do we need our own licence holder?
If you'd like a skipper, just let us know when confirming your reservation. If you sail without one, at least one crew member must hold a valid VHF and skipper licence.
What should we do if something breaks?
Notify us immediately of any breakage or damage, whatever the cause, and we'll tell you how the repair or replacement should be handled. Please don't arrange unauthorised repairs, as those would be at your own cost.
What condition should the boat be in when we return it?
Please return the boat clean and undamaged with full fuel tanks. An untidy or unclean return incurs a cleaning fee, and we'll add a fuel surcharge if the tanks aren't full.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
