Oranje Baai Anchorage

Drop the hook in Oranje Baai and you're sitting right below historic Fort Oranje, the 17th-century Dutch fort that famously fired the first foreign salute to the American flag in 1776. The anchorage offers a generous expanse of relatively shallow water over clean sand, giving you good holding and plenty of swinging room. The dark-sand beach and the pastel colonial town of Oranjestad climbing the hillside above make for a striking backdrop that's hard to beat in the Caribbean.
