Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The operator takes out compulsory insurance for the vessel at its own cost. This insurance does not cover persons on board or their personal belongings, so the operator recommends the guest arrange suitable insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~850 HP engine burns roughly 68 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 1428 L ≈ €2670 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not personally — a skipper is included with this boat and holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Pets are only allowed with our prior consent, so please ask us before booking and we'll let you know.
Where am I allowed to sail?
Your charter area is the Croatian territorial sea. If you'd like to go beyond it, you need our written consent first.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
The person steering must hold a valid sailing permit and have the necessary maritime and navigation knowledge. If you don't have enough knowledge, we can arrange a skipper at your cost. If you turn one down when it's needed, you can't leave port and the booking amount is kept.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Racing, professional passenger transport, towing (except in an emergency) and lending the boat to third parties are not allowed. Night sailing is only permitted in good visibility and safe weather. In bad weather you shouldn't leave a protected port, and on a sailboat you shouldn't leave one with sails up in wind force 7 or more.
What should I do if something breaks or the boat is damaged?
Tell the base manager and us straight away so we can arrange help. If a fault stops you sailing and isn't your doing, we aim to repair it within about 24 hours or find you a replacement vessel.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
