Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: Each yacht has compulsory passenger insurance. The yacht insurance follows the insurer's terms.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~55 HP engine burns roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €179 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What condition should I return the boat in?
We hand the yacht over clean, in working order and with full water and fuel tanks. We ask that you return it in the same condition.
Is there anything I need to check on the boat during my trip?
Yes, please check the engine oil level every day. Damage caused by insufficient oil is not covered by the insurance, so this simple check protects you.
Do I need to share my crew details before the charter?
Yes, we need a list of your crew members' names and addresses four weeks before your charter begins.
Can I charter with a skipper?
Yes, accommodation aboard with a skipper is available. Please note that the security deposit still applies when a skipper is on board.
What if the boat's equipment differs slightly from the listed inventory?
Small differences from the equipment list don't entitle you to a price reduction, as long as everything essential for safety and navigation is on board.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
