Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?

Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: Customer is obligated to cover repair expenses up to the amount of security deposit.

How much will fuel cost?

Accepted Answer

Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~100 HP engine burn roughly 8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 168 L ≈ €314 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.

Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?

Accepted Answer

At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.

Do I need to prove my sailing experience before taking the helm?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you'll need a valid skipper competency certificate. If we find that your skills aren't sufficient for the yacht, we may ask you to take a professional skipper aboard for an extra charge, or to use one for the trip.

Question 5

Can I sail at night or leave Croatian waters?

Accepted Answer

You may only sail at night in safe weather conditions, and the yacht must stay within Croatian waters at all times. You also can't sublet, lend, or use the boat for commercial purposes or professional fishing.

Question 6

What condition should the yacht be in when I return it?

Accepted Answer

You receive the yacht clean, with full fuel and water tanks, so please return it in the same condition. We ask you to check the engine oil and water daily during your trip.

Question 7

What happens if I'm late returning the yacht?

Accepted Answer

For any delay up to 3 hours you'll be charged one daily charter price, and for delays over 3 hours triple the daily rate. Delays are only excused for genuine force majeure, which you must report to us immediately.

Question 8

What should I do if something breaks or goes wrong at sea?

Accepted Answer

Contact our base manager right away for instructions. In case of serious damage or an incident involving other vessels, write down and sign the details with all parties, report it to the nearest harbour master, and notify us immediately.

Question 9

When is the best time to sail in Croatia?

Accepted Answer

May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
