Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer must ensure yacht covered by comprehensive insurance for property damage and ship liability insurance. Coverage minimum €1,000,000 or equivalent.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included, and on a powerboat it's the biggest variable cost. At a typical planing cruise this boat's 370 HP engine burn roughly 56 L/h — about €105 an hour at €1.87/L. It depends heavily on speed: easing off the throttle cuts it sharply, running flat out raises it. Plan your fuel around the hours and speed you expect to cruise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my pet on board?
No, pets are not allowed on board. You also cannot carry any undeclared dutiable or dangerous goods.
Will the operator check the skipper's sailing experience?
Yes. We may verify the skipper's ability to navigate before handing over the yacht and can ask for proof of previous experience. If the skipper is clearly not capable of safely managing the yacht, we may require you to hire a professional skipper or decline to hand over the boat.
Are there limits on where and when I can sail?
You must stay within the agreed cruising area, which can only be left with our express consent. We may further restrict the area or impose limits such as a night-sailing ban when navigation conditions are uncertain or unusual.
What happens in bad weather?
Do not leave a sheltered harbor if the forecast announces sustained winds of 7 Beaufort or more for your next leg. From announced peak gusts above 25 knots you must follow the base manager's instructions on whether to sail or return to port, otherwise damage claims may be void.
Can I race the yacht or use it commercially?
No. Without our prior written consent you may not take part in regattas or use the yacht for commercial purposes such as training, or goods or passenger transport. You also cannot take more people on board than agreed on the crew list.
