About this boat

Welcome aboard the Sun Odyssey 379 fin keel version, an exceptional sailboat that combines elegance and performance for an unforgettable sailing experience. With its length of 11.34 meters, this sailboat offers the perfect balance between comfort and maneuverability. Ideal for sailing enthusiasts seeking maritime adventures, its modern and sleek design conceals a spacious and bright interior, providing all the comfort needed for a relaxed cruise with family or friends. The Sun Odyssey 379 (Jeanneau) can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people, with its three cozy cabins and convertible saloon. The spaces and layout of this sailboat have been designed to facilitate life on board during rentals. The saloon and cockpit offer spacious areas, while the bright interior and well-equipped galley make life aboard easy, whether in port or at sea. A "performance" sailboat for even more thrills on the water. With a draft of 1.95 meters, the Sun Odyssey 379 will impress you with its performance both upwind and downwind. This "performance" version is a great success for the Jeanneau shipyards, notably thanks to its two steering wheels mounted on a hull with hard chines at the stern. This sailboat will allow you to sail with confidence along the Breton coast for coastal cruising or on more ambitious crossings to the Channel Islands, the Scilly Islands, the Isle of Wight, or Cornwall. Equipped with a symmetrical spinnaker on a pole, a full-batten mainsail with two manual reef points (with a third to be rigged), a roller-furling genoa, a removable stay for the solent, an electric windlass, and a lazy bag, this sailboat definitely combines performance, safety, and comfort on board. The Sun Odyssey 379 is also available for rent in a weighted centerboard version, perfect for grounding. Both are equipped, for practicality and safety reasons, with a Sailproof tablet, allowing you to keep an eye on the chart outside, whether you are at the helm or under autopilot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: All-risk insurance of vessel with 'rental option' included in rental rates. Covers civil liability, theft, damage from sea events, and total loss.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~29 HP engine burn roughly 2.3 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 48 L ≈ €94 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in France?
No formal licence is legally required to skipper a bareboat sailing yacht, though charter companies expect a sailing résumé and usually an ICC or equivalent.
What happens if the weather is bad during my charter?
If Meteo-France issues a special weather bulletin for wind of force 7 or more covering most of your booking, we will give you a credit for the full rental amount, valid for twelve months. Days not sailed because of weather are not otherwise refunded, so plan to stay near a port or shelter in a gale.
What if my crew is not experienced enough to sail safely?
We may require a professional skipper at your expense if we judge the crew's skills are not sufficient to keep the crew and boat safe, regardless of any certificates presented.
Do I need a VHF qualification?
For boats fitted with VHF, at least one crew member must hold the required radio diploma; we accept no responsibility if no one aboard is qualified.
How may I not use the boat?
Subletting, lending, sub-chartering, commercial use, professional fishing and transport are all strictly prohibited, and you may only carry the number of passengers stated in your contract.
Do I have to keep a logbook?
Yes. The skipper must keep the logbook we provide up to date, recording navigation, any damage and repairs, and sea events. In a dispute the logbook is the reference used for insurance.
