Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Must have valid yacht insurance accepted by flag state
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~80 HP engines burn roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €201 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
What if you have doubts about my ability to handle the boat?
We may appoint a captain to take the boat to sea if we have doubts about your competence to operate it. The skipper's fee would be paid by you, and in that case the charter can't be cancelled on those grounds.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within the navigation area set out in your contract. Sailing outside Turkish territorial waters falls outside insurance cover and is not permitted; going outside the agreed area can lead us to end the agreement.
How many people can be on board?
You may not exceed the boat's maximum permitted capacity, and only those listed on the transit log may travel. You're responsible for the safety of everyone aboard and confirm they're fit to sail.
Are there activities the boat can't be used for?
The boat must be used for legal purposes only. No racing, no night sailing unless necessary, no towing of other vessels except in emergencies, and no carrying of anyone not declared on the transit log.
What should I do in bad weather?
Please avoid sailing in bad weather, and reef or fully drop the sails as needed so the boat isn't put under undue stress.
