Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer liable for all damages.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~90 HP engines burn roughly 7.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 151 L ≈ €294 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Where are we allowed to sail?
The detailed charts we provide cover the Ionian Greek sea. You are welcome to cruise there, but if you plan to sail beyond that area you must bring your own detailed nautical charts for those waters.
Can we bring pets on board?
Animals are not allowed on board. If any are found, a penalty equal to half the security deposit is charged, so please leave your pets at home.
Are there activities the boat may not be used for?
The boat is for private pleasure use only. You may not carry passengers or goods for hire, take part in regattas or events, or tow another vessel except in a genuine emergency.
What should we do in bad weather?
Please follow all Port Authority instructions and do not sail when seas exceed force six or when forecasts warn of dangerous conditions. Plan your itinerary so you can return early if bad weather is expected.
What happens if something breaks down while we are sailing?
Let us know straight away and do not attempt repairs without our approval. You can request assistance between 08:00 and 20:00, and if a key part of the boat is out of use for more than 12 hours through no fault of yours, we will let you recover the lost time.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
