Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Boat has all-risk insurance policy covering accidents, civil liability and occupants. Excess per claim is 1,500 EUR.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~160 HP engines burn roughly 12.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 269 L ≈ €460 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Can I bring more guests than the boat is licensed for?
No. You may only embark the number of people authorized in the boat documentation, and the total can never exceed what the certificate of navigability allows for the navigation area. Everyone on board must be on the agreed passenger list.
What can the boat be used for?
The boat is for pleasure boating only. Trade, subletting, transferring the charter, professional fishing, paid transport and racing are all strictly prohibited.
Where are we allowed to sail?
Unless we agree otherwise in advance, the boat stays within the waters of Ibiza and Formentera. Your itinerary is yours to propose, but the skipper will confirm it is viable based on sea and weather conditions.
What happens if you feel my skipper is not capable on a bareboat charter?
If we judge that the skipper you provide lacks the skills or the responsible attitude needed to handle this boat, even with the right qualifications, we may require a company skipper at your cost or decline to release the boat. Please make sure whoever skippers is genuinely competent.
Is smoking allowed on board?
The interior of the boat is a strictly smoke-free space. Please keep any smoking to the open exterior areas.
When is the best time to sail in Spain?
April–October across the Balearics and Costa Brava; reliable warm summers, busiest in July–August with the occasional afternoon thermal breeze.
