You sign your yacht charter contract online, from your booking page. The charter company sends it; you get an email, and the contract appears under Documents on the booking. Open it, fill in what is missing, sign by drawing or typing your name, and click I Agree and Sign. A signed copy is emailed to you and stays on the booking.
Not every charter company sends its contract through charter.boats. If yours has not, nothing shows under Documents, and the company handles the paperwork with you directly.
How to sign the contract
- Open My Bookings from your account menu and click the booking.
- Under Documents, find the contract. Its line reads Created and the date, — review & complete. Click it.
- The contract opens on its own page, headed Secure e-signing by Charter Boats. Your name, email, phone and today's date are already filled in from your account where the contract asks for them. Check them.
- Fill in the other fields. The counter at the bottom shows how far you are, for example 3 of 5 required fields.
- At the signature field, choose Draw and sign in the box marked Sign here, or choose Type and type your name in Type your full name.
- Click I Agree and Sign. The button works once every required field is filled. If the contract needs no signature, the button reads Submit instead.
What you type is kept in this browser until you sign, so you can leave the page and come back to the same contract without starting over.
After you sign
The page says the contract is Completed and A copy has been emailed to you. Click Download PDF to save it, or Back to Booking.
On the booking page, the contract's line now reads Completed and the date, — download signed copy. Click it whenever you need the boat charter contract again, at the base or later.
When the contract has expired
A contract has an end date set by the charter company. If it passes before you sign, the line on the booking reads Expired — please request a new one, and the contract page says Contract Expired. Message the charter company and ask them to send a new one; how to reach them is in How do I ask the boat owner a question?.
What the contract says
The contract is the charter company's own document, a bare boat charter contract or a skippered one, written with their terms. Read it before you sign. How the security deposit works on charter.boats is in Security Deposits & Damage Claims. The other document the company needs from you before you sail is the crew list; see How do I fill in the passenger (crew) list?.
