Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Charterer bears liability for losses not recoverable under Shipowner's insurance.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Where can I sail and are there any range limits?
You can cruise within Greek waters unless we agree otherwise in writing. Please plan so your turnaround point is reached in the first third of the charter, stay within 40 nautical miles of the disembarkation port in the final two days, and be back at the base by 5:00 pm on the day before return.
Are there weather or time-of-day restrictions on sailing?
Please don't set out if the wind exceeds Force 6 (above 24 knots) or sailing is prohibited. We also ask that you avoid sailing after sunset or in uncharted waters, reef in good time, and never over-canvas the boat.
What uses of the yacht aren't allowed?
The yacht is for private leisure only. Please don't race, tow another vessel (except in an emergency), sublet, or carry more people than the licence permits, and don't attempt repairs without our approval.
Might my sailing experience be checked before departure?
Yes, we may ask for a short practical demonstration of your seamanship before you set off, and that time counts as part of the charter. If it isn't satisfactory, we may place a skipper on board at your cost.
What happens if the yacht breaks down during the charter?
Notify us immediately and report any accident to the nearest Port Authority. If a machinery breakdown not caused by you prevents use for more than 24 hours in the Saronic Gulf (48 in the Cyclades or Eastern Peloponnese), you can claim a pro-rata refund or an equivalent extension.
