About this boat

Excess 11 – Be Happy (Owners Version) Launched in early 2024, Be Happy is a superb Excess 11 owners version designed for both performance and comfort, offering an ideal platform for exploring the islands and lagoons of French Polynesia. The entire starboard hull is dedicated to a magnificent private owner’s suite, featuring a sumptuous 2m x 2m bed, a bright and comfortable study space, and a spacious en-suite bathroom with a separate shower. This exclusive layout provides a peaceful retreat that feels more like a boutique hotel than a catamaran. The port hull accommodates two inviting double guest cabins that share a modern bathroom, allowing Be Happy to welcome up to six guests in comfort and privacy. The interior is fully equipped with all household essentials, from linens to kitchenware, so guests can settle in effortlessly. Be Happy is prepared for adventure and remote cruising, with solar panels for reliable energy production, a watermaker to ensure freshwater independence, and a dinghy with outboard engine for easy access to beaches, motu, and snorkelling sites. Stand-up paddleboards and fishing equipment are available as optional extras to enhance the experience. Excess catamarans are built to sail and to live aboard comfortably, and Be Happy embodies this philosophy perfectly. Responsive, fun to helm, and beautifully balanced, she offers an authentic sailing experience while providing generous living spaces, natural light, and excellent ventilation. Whether cruising between islands or relaxing in a turquoise lagoon, Be Happy delivers the perfect blend of adventure, comfort, and style for an unforgettable charter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. You're only responsible for damage it doesn't cover, and that's capped at the security deposit. Operator terms: Boat Owner carries insurance for accidental damage including third-party damage. Theft or loss of personal effects excluded.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. This boat's ~58 HP engines burn roughly 4.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 97 L ≈ €189 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans. Many skippers run one engine on passage to roughly halve fuel use — ask your operator if that’s fine for your boat.
Do I need a sailing licence in France?
No formal licence is legally required to skipper a bareboat sailing yacht, though charter companies expect a sailing résumé and usually an ICC or equivalent.
Will my sailing skills be checked before I take the boat?
Yes. We reserve the right to assess your and your crew's handling and sailing skills, including by coming out to sea with you. If the trial isn't successful, we may require a professional skipper for as long as needed for the safety of the boat and crew, at your cost.
Can I sail at night?
Sailing at night isn't allowed without our prior authorisation for a specific route and date. Sailing within the lagoons is only permitted between 8am and 4pm.
Are there weather limits on when I can leave port?
Yes. Please don't leave port or anchorage if the wind exceeds force 6 on the Beaufort scale or such wind is forecast, if the authorities have banned sailing, or if the boat, crew or conditions present any danger. We may also send you sailing and routing instructions in bad weather.
Do I need to share my itinerary?
Yes. Your sailing itinerary must be approved by us before departure, and you should keep us informed of your position whenever it changes.
How may I use the boat, and can I take part in a regatta?
The boat is for pleasure sailing only, with no commercial use, professional fishing, transport or towing. You may only take part in a regatta with our prior authorisation, which can mean extra costs and a higher deposit; unauthorised racing is forbidden. You may carry only the number of people listed on your rental invoice.
