A booking that reads Awaiting payment is paid on its own booking page: open My Bookings from your account menu, click the booking, and pay under Complete Your Booking. A split balance is paid from its invoice, by bank transfer or card, any time before its due date. Every charter online booking on charter.boats keeps its payments, receipts and refunds on that same page.

If you are booking a new boat, you pay at checkout instead; see How do I book a boat on charter.boats?.

When a booking says Awaiting payment

Awaiting payment means the dates are held for you and nothing is paid yet. It happens when the operator sends you an offer, or when your waitlist place opens up. Where the hold has an end, the badge adds expires and the date and time. Under the badge you read This is a reservation. Complete payment to turn it into a confirmed booking.

An offer from the operator also shows how long it lasts: This personalized offer expires in and the time left. Once it has run out, the page says This offer has expired — message the operator to request a new one.

How to pay a booking that is Awaiting payment

  1. Open My Bookings from your account menu and click the booking.
  2. Scroll to Complete Your Booking. The price lines end with the Total, then show what is due now and what is paid at pickup.
  3. Some boats offer a Payment plan: Pay in full today or Pay in two installments. If you choose two, the page tells you that a balance still unpaid on its date is charged to this card.
  4. Fill in Name on card and your card details. Payment is handled by Stripe.
  5. Click Pay with the total, or Pay with the deposit amount if you chose two installments.

Once paid, the booking reads Confirmed, or Balance Pending if you paid a deposit. What each word means is in What does my booking status mean?.

How to pay the balance of a split payment

With two installments, the first is paid when you book and the balance has a due date. The booking reads Balance Pending, and the line under it says: Pay the balance by bank transfer by the date, — the bank details are on the balance invoice below — or we'll charge your card on that date.

  1. Open the booking and scroll to Payment Details.
  2. Under Payment timing, the first step reads Paid. The second reads Due on and the date, with the amount.
  3. Click View invoice beside the balance. The invoice page shows the bank details for a transfer, and also takes a card.
  4. Pay any time before the due date.

If nothing has come in by the due date, the balance is charged to the card you used for the deposit. Once the balance is paid, its step reads Paid as well.

Some older bookings read We'll auto-charge the balance on the date instead. Those are charged to your card on that date, with nothing for you to do.

What is paid at the base

A Paid at pickup line under Payment timing is not charged online. You pay it at the base when you collect the boat, on your check-in day. It is part of the Total all the same. Why some fees are paid there is explained in Fees & Pricing. The security deposit is separate again; see Security Deposits & Damage Claims.

Getting a receipt

On a split payment, each paid step under Payment Details has a View receipt link. An unpaid step has View invoice.

When you pay in full, the booking page has no receipt link. You get a confirmation email instead: the page says Booking Confirmed! You'll receive a confirmation email shortly.

Payment status and refunds

Where the page shows a Payment status, it reads Paid, Deposit Paid, Refunded or Partial Refund. After a cancellation with money back, you also see Refund amount and Refund status: Processing while it is on its way, then Processed.

While it is processing, the page says Your refund will appear on your statement within 5-10 business days. How a refund is worked out is in How do I cancel my booking, and what do I get back?.
